1. Radio Show Song List Week 8/9 (i did two shows this week, back to back, 4 hours) WTSR

    Today DJ Berndt, Omar De Col, Ben Brooks, and Crispin Best all listened to my show and chatted me while I was in the radio studio for 4 hours, covering both my 8-10am shift and the 10am-12pm shift of the girl that usually goes on after me.  Right now I’m listening to Bohemian Rhapsody in the student center and feeling shitty idk.  4 hours, I am tired now.  Anyway, I said a bunch of things, here are things that these guys told me to say:

    DJ:

    • this next song is going so ham, I just ordered up some sweet honey glaze
    • enjoy this next jam, it’ll put hair on your palms
    • this next tune goes out to all you lovely light rays that will one day be a rainbow
    • this song is dedicated to all the humans out there who are currently aging. keep it up everyone (i liked this one but did not say it because there were ~4 people in the studio at that point and i felt nervous to say it while they were there and watching me)
    Ben:
    • that song goes out to everyone who went into labour today
    • that song makes me want to move to india amirite
    • with me, maggie lee, the baddest gook in k-town (didnt say this though because we realized ‘just in time’ that it was a lil racist sounding, yea)
    • this band is going to be playing to packed out stadiums very soon, um, wait
    There was a really really bad local band that I had to play and Ben was like ‘did someone dare you to play this, this is awful’ or something, so then I went on after and just started laughing like calmly and said like ‘wow, im sorry, haha, jesus, uhhh, ok, we’re just gna move on from that, im really sorry for that one’ and laughed a little bit quietly for a few seconds on-air.
    Omar didnt tell me anything to say, he laughed about the shout out to everyone in labor one though.
    Crispin was just there for the sweetazz music maybe, he said nice words, that was our first time gchatting !! woah, we have expanded our relashonship crispin
    My good friend Chris Feldman tweeted this: ‘just had the news read to me by   ’ and i read the tweet on-air and said shouts out to my friend Chris, and said ‘im just reading the news, thats the news’ re it being depressing, also i said ‘@maggie44’ on-air and i have 0 new followers so far.
    People came in and out of the studio a lot today so I know people heard me say crazy things and think I’m crazy now.  Heh.  Seems good and funny, idgaf idgaf.  I thought they were coming in to yell at me each time, for like, being crazy, but they just had other questions.  Someone called me on the phone in the studio and tried to sell me coffee, I was just like ‘um you can just like, idgi, you want to come give me samples? or you want me to make an announcement that you’re giving samples? idgi’ and he said ‘I want to sell you our coffee to have in your offices’ and i said ‘email the station manager’ and tried to remember/guess what the station manager’s email address is, i said it was ‘stationmanager@wtsr.org’, but it’s actually ‘stationmgr@wtsr.org’, heh, woops.
    Okay I’ll be on again next week, only two hours though, I think, Friday, 8-10am, okay thanks everyone

Radio Show Song List, Week 7, WTSR today DJ Berndt listened to my show and gchatted me and he said that he felt old because he didn’t know most of the bands i was playing.  but i don’t know half the songs that i play, i have to play music that i don’t know, and that’s good because then i learn about new bands that i like, and i also learn about a lot of bands that i don’t like. today i used the new dj system for the first time, we are converting over to an automated system, we play music off of a touch screen and stuff now instead of CDs mostly i guess, it was pretty easy.  but most of the music in the studio isn’t in the system yet, so i had a very limited selection today.  still got some good stuff though, i think.  DJ requested the song ‘Satellite’ by The Kills (i needed another song to play and asked if he had any requests.  he requested two other songs/bands that we didnt have in the system and then he asked for The Kills and we had them and then we didnt have the song he wanted in the system yet but he said that ‘satellite’ was good too, so i played that) **DJ told me to introduce a song by saying that it was ‘covered in sweet salt-free butter just for you baby’, and i did that, i think right before the song ‘wasted away’, and it was funny, i laughed a little while saying it and then kept laughing for a while after** a boy named Kevin called the studio and told me his name was Kevin and asked me what song i played around 8:24am and i said ‘Dour Percentage by Of Montreal’ and he said ‘what’ and then i said it again and spelled it out for him and he said ‘oh sweet’ like he new the band so i said ‘yea! off their new album’ and he was like ‘oh woah, nice’ and then i said ‘haha yea, thanks for calling in!’ and hung up

    Those earbuds that come with anything you buy from the beautiful Apple store aren’t so beautiful.  I’m typing this on my MacBook Pro right now.  I like Apple.  Love it.  But come on

    If I turn the volume up to any level of enough amplitude on my iPhone to drown out the background noise of life, anyone in the surrounding area looks at me as if I pulled up next to them at a stop light and turned the volume to its maximum level and rolled down the windows and looked them in the eyes and revved my engine.  I’m not saying that I wouldn’t do just that.  I have done that before.  That can be fun/funny.  But, when I’m trying to listen to music through my earbuds, I am expecting it to be a private experience.  These earbuds suck- I do not get my private experience.

    I am moving on

    I am going to purchase a pair of big ol’ comfy headphones.  The kind that strap over top your head and cushion onto your ears and suction the music right on in to your eardrums.  I want great sounds, I want background noise-reduction, I want comfort.

    I want them not to look overly-showy though.  I want them to look subtle, yet stand out.  Oh, and will these make me look hipster-ish?  I’m not sure.  I don’t really care though.  I like the look either way.  I don’t know what category I want to fall in.  I just want some headphones.

    Should I get skullcandy headphones?  Or are they over-rated?  How about these? http://www.noisefreeheadphones.com/CELEKUMTNWT.htm I don’t really know what I’m doing.  I’d basically just be taking a chance with whatever headphones I buy.  I feel like whatever I get will be at least ten times better than the Apple earbuds, though, so I’m not too worried.
